Toyota Camry Ignition Coil Replacement Cost (2007-2026)
Quick Answer
4-cyl (all front access)
$325-$453
per coil at independent shop
V6 rear bank (intake removal)
$380-$520
per rear coil, higher labour
Critical: V6 Rear Bank Requires Intake Removal
The Camry V6 (2GR-FE) has three coils on the front bank (cylinders 1-2-3, accessible) and three on the rear bank (cylinders 4-5-6, buried behind the upper intake manifold). Replacing a rear-bank coil requires removing the upper intake, adding 0.5-1.0 hr labour.
If any rear-bank coil fails, strongly consider replacing all three rear coils at once. The intake is already off. Labour overlap saves $50-$120 compared to doing them separately.
4-cyl full set
$400-$650
V6 full set (all 6 coils)
$720-$1,040

Which Cylinder Fails First?
V6 rear bank (cylinders 4-5-6)
Cylinders 4 and 6 are closest to the exhaust manifold heat source and fail first. Cylinder 4 is the most commonly reported first failure on 2GR-FE engines.
4-cyl front cylinders
Cylinders 1 and 2 are reported slightly more often than 3 and 4 on 2AR-FE engines. All four are equally accessible.

DIY Feasibility
4-cyl: Easy (10 min per coil)
All four coils are on the top of the engine, fully accessible with a 10mm socket. Identical to Civic DIY. Save $60-$150 in labour.
V6 rear bank: Moderate (1.5-2 hr)
Upper intake manifold removal required. Risk of breaking intake gaskets. Recommended only if you have disassembled an intake before. Save $130-$250 if done correctly.
Torque: 8-10 ft-lb on 2AR-FE hold-down bolts. 2GR-FE: 9 ft-lb. Always confirm in factory service manual.
